
Sander Janssen, Director, Earth Informatics Team, Wageningen University & Research (WUR)
Sander Janssen PhD is currently working as team lead for Earth Informatics, at Wageningen Environmental Research and leading a team of experienced researchers, remotes sensing specialists and software engineers in the digital agriculture & environment, working on diverse aspects of open data, big data, remote sensing, data analytics, land use change, ecosystem services and impact assessment.
Furthermore, he has an interest in knowledge representation and knowledge engineering, that focus on making knowledge explicit and usable for end-users (i.e. policy makers, stakeholders, nature conservationists, general public, water managers).
Sander has strong analytical skills and a long experience in cross-disciplinary communication required for achieving results in multi-disciplinary projects focused on model and knowledge integration. He is a team player and works best in a collaborative mode of bringing people together in development of projects. He has experience in project management and different types of working processes for model and software development (i.e. agile, extreme, iterative, prototyping).
