Roland Jakab is the CEO of the Hungarian Research Network since January 2024. Over the past 23 years, he has held numerous domestic and regional leadership positions at Ericsson Hungary Ltd. in areas such as corporate management, strategy, and R&D. Between 2018-2023, he was the Central European Regional Strategic Director responsible for eight countries at Ericsson. Throughout his professional corporate career, he has played a leading role in the domestic introduction of several technological innovations (3G, 4G, 5G), in promoting cutting-edge research and development in areas such as artificial intelligence, IoT, Edge Computing, cloud technology, and XR in Hungary, and in strengthening the company’s university partnerships. As the President of the Hungarian Artificial Intelligence Coalition, he has deep knowledge of both the Hungarian and international R&D ecosystems and leads several other professional and social organizations (e.g., the Hungarian European Business Council, the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Hungary, etc.). As a member of the Technical Advisory Board of the Hungarian National Laboratories, he also has insight into key domestic research on data and artificial intelligence.
