Dr Mick McCann is Senior Lecturer for Research Development at Atlantic Technological University (ATU) and a Principal Investigator in Rínn AI, Ireland’s national research centre for Data Science and AI. He is also Academic Director of ATU’s JANUS Research Centre for AI, HPC and Emerging Technologies. His work focuses on building AI research and innovation ecosystems, connecting advanced infrastructure and research talent with industry, healthcare and public-sector partners. He leads major national and cross-border initiatives including ONEHEALTH and Data2Sustain EDIH, and has secured over €8 million in competitive funding within collaborative programmes valued at more than €45 million, with a strong focus on translating AI and data science into societal and economic impact.
