Marcos Nieto
Researcher at Vicomtech

Dr. Marcos Nieto received M.S. and Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from ETSIT of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), Spain, in 2005 and 2010, respectively. From 2005 to 2010 he worked as Researcher within the Image Processing Group at the UPM, in the field of H.264/AVC video codecs and computer vision applied to advanced driver assistance systems. Since 2010 he works as a Researcher on computer vision and machine learning techniques of the Intelligent Transport Systems and Engineering Area of Vicomtech-IK4, being Principal Researcher since 2014. His current research interests include the use of optimization methods for probabilistic models in computer vision.
He has been technical and scientific coordinator of FP7 and H2020 projects (e.g. FP7 SAVASA, FP7 P-REACT, H2020 Cloud-LSVA), and has experience in transferring technology to industry to support of innovation (e.g. EagleTD, MagicEye) and coordinating the Vicomtech’s Viulib SDK, a set of C++ multiplatform libraries for advanced computer vision and machine learning. He is the author of more than 50 peer-reviewed international publications in relevant conferences (+35) and journals (+15), also being an active reviewer of prestigious journals for IEEE, Elsevier and Springer and guest editor of IET Computer Vision.
