Ioannis Konstantinou

Dr Ioannis Konstantinou is a senior researcher at the Computing Systems Laboratory of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and a Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science of the University of Thessaly where he regularly teaches Operating Systems, Advanced Databases and Programming courses. Dr Konstantinou received his Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from NTUA in 2004, his M.Sc. in Techno-Economic Systems from NTUA in 2007 and his PhD from NTUA in 2011. His research interests lie in the field of large-scale distributed data management systems (Cloud Computing and big-data technologies). He has co-authored more than 40 papers in top-tier peer-reviewed conferences and journals in the Database (i.e., SIGMOD, ICDE, IEEE BigData) and Systems (i.e, ACM SoCC, CCGRID, IEEE TPDS, etc.) domains with more than 680 citations (h-index 13). He has received the best paper award in the prestigious IEEE/ACM International Conference on Cluster, Cloud and Grid Computing in 2013 and a best paper award nomination in CCGRID 2015 for his pioneering work on cloud elasticity. He has worked in the proposal preparation, the technical coordination (Technical coordinator, WP leader, etc.), the design and the development of numerous EU and GR funded research projects (E2Data, SELIS, CELAR, ARCOMEM, Modissense, CLARIN-El, StratusLab etc.). In SELIS, Dr. Konstantinou (ICCS-CSLAB) is leading the ICT platform and Infrastructure Work Package along with the implementation of the Big Data Analytics component and its porting to different living labs.
