
Dr Andreas Metzger is a senior academic councillor and head of adaptive systems and big data applications at Paluno, the Ruhr Institute for Software Technology of the University of Duisburg-Essen (Germany). In addition, he is deputy secretary general of BDVA (the European Big Data Value Association) and steering committee vice chair of NESSI (the European Technology Platform dedicated to Software, Services and Data). He is the technical coordinator of the Big Data Value PPP lighthouse project TransformingTransport and chief architect of the EU research and innovation action RestAssured, focussing on secure data processing in the cloud. His background and current interests are software engineering for data-intensive and adaptive systems. He has co-authored around 100 papers, articles and book chapters. He acted as program committee member for numerous international conferences and workshops and co-organized over 15 international workshops and conference tracks.
