SESSION DESCRIPTION & OBJECTIVES

The session will be based on the results and insights of three H2020 projects TITANIUM, DANTE and ASGARD.

  • TITANIUM: scrape and analyse dark web and cross-analyse with virtual currency trading patterns, while respecting the privacy of legitimate users; presentation by Ross King (AIT; coordinator) and Freek Bomhof (TNO).
  • DANTE: monitor and analyse terrorist-related activities on the internet (surface, deep and dark web) aimed at online fund-raising, propaganda, training and disinformation.
  • ASGARD: image analysis and authorship attribution technologies to find traces of criminal activities in various data sources; presentation by Seán Gaines (Vicomtech).

The presentations will include brief demos of some intermediate results where possible.

After these introductions, a guided interaction with the audience is done with the explicit goal to establish links between topics, including for instance privacy-aware data collection, graph analysis based on heterogeneous sources, multilingual natural language processing, standardization of taxonomies and ontologies.

First, the list of topics will be extended with inputs from the audience. Then, a voting will be done to identify the most promising topics. Then, for each topic, a brainstorm will be held. The brainstorm will address a further analysis of the topic and to make explicit relations between researchers and/or practitioners.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES

Identification of links between the cybercrime application area and other application areas, in fields like text analytics, graph analytics, natural language processing, and privacy-aware analysis.

TARGET AUDIENCE

  • Researchers and practitioners in the field of web scraping, text mining, NLP, blockchain / virtual currency analysis.
  • Representatives of Law enforcement agencies or from organizations that have to deal with cybercrime in their operations.
  • We will notify the project stakeholders across Europe on the session.
