Sestosenso develops next-generation technology for collaborative robots with the ability to self-adapt to dynamic environments and seamlessly transition between autonomous and interactive modes when human collaboration or intervention is needed. The core innovation is the ProxySKIN, a network of embedded proximity and tactile sensors that provide unified sensory feedback -enabling safe and intelligent human-robot interaction in both industrial and service contexts.
Sestosenso is designed to meet the growing demand for flexible, autonomous robots that operate efficiently in dynamic, unstructured environments without requiring extensive infrastructure. By equipping robots and wearable devices, such as exoskeletons, with this advanced sensing technology, the project enhances spatial awareness and improves safety in critical tasks. Sestosenso’s innovations hold the potential to drive significant advancements across various industries, including manufacturing, logistics, and agriculture, accelerating the adoption of human-centered, AI-driven robotics in Industry 4.0 and beyond.
