In the post-pandemic era, the Cloud Continuum is recognized as a strategic enabler of digital capabilities offering opportunities for pursuing innovative business objectives. Beyond the migration to cloud services for satisfying the increasing compute, storage and network needs, the latest advancements in Cloud Computing open new ways of operation to achieve growth, agility and sustainability in today’s highly competitive landscape. With the rapidly exploding number of smart and connected devices today and the abundance of data constantly generated by new and emerging technologies such as smart cities, 5G/6G, IoT, autonomous mobility, smart manufacturing, extended reality, etc. are putting higher demands on the cloud infrastructures, cloud services and cloud developers especially for real time and mission critical applications.

This session aims to highlight opportunities for boosting data-driven digital transformation of the EU innovation landscape and strengthening its competitiveness by leveraging on the next-generation Cloud Continuum platforms developed by three EU-funded Cloud Computing projects: RAINBOW, PLEDGER and MORPHEMIC.

Their sophisticated solutions advance the management of scalable, heterogeneous and secure IoT services and cross-cloud applications through fog computing, deliver a new architectural paradigm for enhanced experience and QoS on edge infrastructures, introduce polymorph architecture and proactive adaptation for multi-cloud deployments in distributed environments.

Highly-skilled experts from industry and senior researchers from the forefront of Cloud Computing and Data Science fields, will discuss how the novel mechanisms and intelligent tools on offer are benefitting the whole European Cloud ecosystem from infrastructure providers, to service developers and end-users. This session aims to offer an exciting and motivating session of talks, discussions and key take away ideas that stimulate BDVA/DAIRO and EU communities with regards to the opportunities offered through the cutting-edge evolution of the Cloud Continuum, by:

  • Exploring next-generation Cloud solutions that can contribute to the data-driven digital transformation of the European innovation ecosystems
  • Showcasing beyond SoTA architectures, advanced platforms and intelligent mechanisms for efficient Cloud orchestration, data management and analytics which benefit the whole cloud ecosystem from infrastructure providers to service developers and end-users
  • Opening collaboration and dialogues among key stakeholders (industry, SMEs, academia, developers) to encourage synergies and complementary actions to further increase awareness and adoption of next-generation Cloud solutions
  • Identifying the technologies, skills and competencies that impact the emergence and effectiveness of novel services in today’s businesses based on new opportunities offered by next-generation Cloud platforms developed in EU.
