Foundations for an AI-Data-Driven Energy Future
Europe’s energy system is at a turning point—becoming more decentralised, renewables-driven, and digitally orchestrated. To fully realise the potential of this transformation, we must lay robust foundations for a AI-Data-Driven energy future. This session will explore the enabling conditions—technological, infrastructural, and institutional—that are essential to build intelligent, adaptive, and interoperable energy systems.
In the session speakers will show:
- How Testing and Experimentation Facilities (TEFs) and AI Factories serve as vital infrastructures to develop, validate, and deploy AI-powered solutions for the energy sector.
- The emergence of energy dataspaces and datalabs as critical tools for secure, sovereign, and interoperable data sharing, supporting innovation across stakeholders.
- The role of digital twins, AI, and advanced analytics in simulating and optimising system performance, forecasting demand and supply, and automating operations.
- A broader look at technologies that thrive on data—from smart grids to IoT platforms—that together form the digital backbone of the clean energy transition.
- The societal and industrial movements accelerating this shift, including open innovation models, collaborative governance, and new market structures.
Framed within the objectives of the AI Continent action plan, this session will discuss how to operationalise its vision: enabling AI adoption at scale, fostering world-class digital infrastructure, and empowering strategic sectors like energy to lead in sustainability and competitiveness.
