Data Value creation via Sustainable and Ethical Data Sharing

TEADAL and TRUSTEE Horizon Europe projects are funded by the European Commission which are providing trustworthy, reliable and sustainable, data sharing and data management technologies across the computing continuum.

The necessity for secure, trust-based, and sustainable data sharing practices, essential for organizations seeking to leverage their data assets for innovation, particularly in the development of a trustworthy artificial intelligence are the driving motivation for these projects.

At the core of Europe’s data strategy, lies a commitment to environmental, economic, and societal sustainability, as well as ethics and regulatory compliance. For instance, through the integration of environmental management principles and the identification of impacting factors, the projects seek to significantly reduce the ecological impact of data operations. Continuous monitoring and analysis of environmental footprint data provides the necessary foundation to do so. This approach is aligned with the European Green Deal, emphasising efficiency and sustainability within data-driven AI systems. The cautious, selective utilisation of modern privacy-enhancing and distributed ledger technologies minimises data exposure and supports compliance with the strict privacy regulations outlined in the GDPR and other existing and forthcoming relevant EU data governance frameworks, ensuring that the lifecycle of data respects privacy and data protection at every turn, as well as that the technology solutions are compliant with EU regulatory frameworks and standards.
