Following up on its EBDVF 2025 session “From Silos to Sharing: EU Health Data”, the BDVA Health Task Force is organising a session titled “Cross‑border health data sharing in the EU – current state of affairs” at EBDVF 2026 in Galway, Ireland.

The session will present country‑level use cases, including from the host country Ireland, delivered by expert practitioners and policymakers. These use cases will address both primary and secondary use of health data, in line with the European Health Data Space (EHDS) framework, covering cross‑border care delivery as well as data reuse for research, innovation, and policy-making.

The showcased examples will span different levels of maturity, ranging from operational cross-border data exchange already in practice to national data consolidation efforts preparing for future cross-border sharing. Collectively, they will provide a realistic snapshot of where Europe stands today, highlighting successes, remaining barriers, implementation insights, and concrete next steps towards effective cross-border health data sharing in the EU.
